Keld Resource Centre

KELD RESOURCE CENTRE

Keld is a very special place, situated at the head of Swaledale and in the north west corner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, close to the county boundaries of North Yorkshire, Durham and Cumbria.

As celebrated walker and writer Alfred Wainwright noted, at Keld “a sundial records the hours but time is measured in centuries.”

The sundial in question stands watch over the doorway of the United Reformed Church, in the heart of the small village. The church still houses a worshipping congregation, but also provides with the manse next door and two other adjacent buildings facilities for a special project, the Keld Resource Centre, a partnership between church and community.

Visit the websites for information about events and activities, including a series of summer activities run from the Countryside Centre. And if you want to spend time in this beautiful area, note that the manse is now available as a very comfortable holiday let.
