Rowena Francis

Synod Moderator

Rowena, in common with the twelve other Synod Moderators in the United Reformed Church, exercises a pastoral and leadership rôle with regard to ministers, congregations and the councils of the Church.

Rowena was brought up in the Churches of Christ in Leicestershire. Her parents became ministers at union and are still active in Oadby, Leicester. Her initial training was as a nurse and midwife. She then trained for ministry and was ordained in 1991. Since then she has ministered in Kettering, in rural Gloucestershire, and then for six years in Coventry, before being appointed to her present post.

She is married to Alan, a supernumerary Methodist minister. They describe themselves as a pack, being trained by Grace, a cross border collie and Toby a scruffy mongrel.
