AN EASTER SEASON INTERCESSION

Deep within the presence of Almighty God
we pray for ourselves,
for the world,
and for the church.

Mother and Father of us all
where children suffer hold back the hands of
those who would cause them pain
and strengthen the hands of those who would
alleviate their suffering………..

Response:  God of resurrection
                Hear our prayer

Warrior God
where war brings death and destruction
hold back the hands of the war makers
and strengthen the hands of those who would
bring peace……….

Response:  God of resurrection
                Hear our prayer

Servant God
where politicians, cultural and religious leaders
would bring their followers into slavery
hold back the hands of the tyrant
and strengthen the hands of those who bring
freedom……….

Response:  God of resurrection
                Hear our prayer

God of commerce
where economic policies lead to greed,
corruption and increase in poverty
hold back the hands of the policy makers
and strengthen the hands of the wise…….

Response:  God of resurrection
                Hear our prayer

God of creation
where the desire for wealth and power
lead to the earth’s destruction
hold back the hands of the destroyers
and strengthen the hands of the careful
stewards….

Response:  God of resurrection
                Hear our prayer

Holy God, you have made us a people for
yourself through the life, death and
resurrection of Jesus.

As we pray for the world so we pray for
ourselves;  that we might become part of your
answer, rather than part of the ongoing
problem.

All these things we ask and claim
in the name of Jesus,
through the power of the Spirit.
