An inspirational and imaginative collage has been put together by the St Andrew’s Art Group to celebrate the opening of the new reception area and refurbishment of the church premises in Eastfield Avenue, Monkseaton.
The front of the new building, which has linked the original church and main hall, has a striking roofline and this has been used as the framework of the collage depicting some of the activities which are now part of this community church. A hand painted pair of dancing shoes relates to the church's Scottish Dancing Society, and a blue and white cup to the new corporate china.
St Andrew's press officer Heather Carr reports that "along with our ‘new look’ church, our Minister has introduced the large congregation at St Andrew’s to the American hymn ‘Let us build a house where love can dwell’. The chorus of ‘All are welcome in this place’ has become our welcoming logo."
"And," Heather adds, "These are exciting and changing times at St Andrew’s."
