The advert said the applicant must have a BSc honors degree together with a valid Assessment of Professional Competence issued by the Chartered Institute of……..

He or she must have a high level of knowledge, be able to communicate complex issues effectively…..and be able to drive.

It would probably helpful if he or she had a firm grasp of quantum physics, had at some stage undergone an astronauts pre-flight training course and had written a cookery book, but these however were not listed – not even under the ‘Desirable' section of the ubiquitous ‘Person Specification'

Organisations want the best.

Like ‘prick and ping' ready meals they want people processed, ready for the extreme heat of the corporate microwave, in the hope that, upon consumption they will fill the gap.

Big organisations want big talents, they want the X-factor, stellar individuals capable of burning brightly in the firmament of business, industry and commerce.

But thankfully God created a world, this great big wonderful world, full of men and women of mini talents. A world where little things often go un-noticed.

A world nonetheless full of people who are worth ‘more than many sparrows' and to whom God has given to each the ability, the talent, to be who we are, to be someone upon whom He can look and see a little of himself reflecting back.

We are a people of mini talents, (and there is no ‘only' in that sentence) and with those mini talents God can do much.

He can be the softly spoken word, the listening ear, the smallest action. We may not even recognize the talent that He has bestowed upon us as He carefully combines the ingredients of our experiences, creating in us, Himself.

Corporations may desire what they perceive to be the best talent. Talent capable of delivering instant success, but God takes the mini talents, creating something special, something that will take a lifetime to perfect and that will last for all eternity.

You.
