Tune Armageddon/ Rachie
Let us come together, following the word
of our risen Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let us pray together for a better way,
guided and empowered in all we do and say.Let us burn to serve Him in the Spirit's Love;
Power to His People, Blessing from above!Let us feel together Force of Wind and Fire
energising, raising every motive higher.
Let us fight together with the Spirit's sword
apathy, disservice to our loving Lord.Chorus
Let us find together faith and love so strong
reconciling difference, overturning wrong.
Let us work together, sowing fertile seeds
where our world is barren, where the Spirit leads.Chorus ........
Doreen Simm 2006
It’s like the morning after, Lord!
Last week we were drunk with the Spirit –
at least that’s what we were accused of
by the bystanders who saw us
reeling out of the upper room,
windswept and on fire for you.
Now in the cold light of the next day, next week,
some of us wonder if what we felt was real:
how do we get on with the rest of our lives -
what are we meant to do?
How do we follow that!
All those people, Lord,
clamouring to know more.
Are they as keen this morning
to keep on along the Way,
when they are met with stony silence,
disinterest, or even active persecution.
Can we learn to deal with it all -
What would you have done, Lord……..?
Keep on feeding the hungry,
opening homes and lives to those in need,
teaching, healing, sharing:
pouring ourselves out
as you poured out yourself for us
and continue to pour out your Spirit
on everyone who asks.
Give us your Spirit, Lord,
today, the Sunday morning after,
and every morning after that;
Encourage us to ask and receive
your strength each day, each week;
to seek and find you are with us
as we knock and discover
the door is open to new life,
a life spent in your presence,
in your service,
through the power of your Spirit
as we serve the worldCarol Dixon 2006
Final verse:
Come Holy Spirit,
Bring us to Jesus,
Grant us God's peace,
Come Holy Spirit.Carol Dixon 2004
Join in songs of jubilation
On this happy, holy day.
Join the glad commemoration,
For the Church was born today.1. Friends are waiting, gathered in an upper room;
Watching, praying, for the Lord to chase away their gloom, so....Chorus
2. Hear the sound - a mighty rushing wind so strong;
See the tongues of flame appearing on each one of them now....Chorus
3. God lives in us, joyfully the message rings,
Welcome Spirit, all across the world are people singing....Chorus
Carol Dixon 2004
May be sung to a well known tune -
or to Carol's own composition, "Wedding Song"
