Oxclose Church, Washington is a Local Ecumenical Partnership (LEP) incorporating the Church of England, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church.
On Sunday July 10th 2005 the church celebrated the 30th anniverary of its building, with a service that was led by our Synod Ecumenical Officer, the Revd John Durell.
The Scripture readings included the story of Jacob at Bethel, Genesis 28, which had been read at the opening service in 1975 - recalled by a number of members of the congregation. Guests included retired non-stipendiary minister Tom Ellison, who had been deeply involved in the setting up of the church and the development of ecumenism in the early days of Washington New Town.
The picture shows John Durell and Oxclose minister Susan Kent cutting the birthday cake after the service.
