Agata, Magda, Oola, Thomas, Laura, and Peter became part of the regular worshipping congregation at St Cuthbert's URC North Sunderland over the summer months. They are all university students from south Poland, brushing up on their English (some are studying English, and British Literature), and earning some money over their summer vacation taking on seasonal work in the annual tourist boom Seahouses experiences each year.
They have all returned to Poland now to continue with their studies, but we hope to meet up with them again next year. We enjoyed entertaining them in our homes, introducing them to our families and friends, and a trip together to Holy Island to show them St Cuthbert's URC there, and talk about the Christian heritage of our area. The congregation were delighted to be able to 'welcome the stranger'.
So if you want to belong to a warm and hospitable group of Christians, you know where to come ....
