On June 18th 2005 members, elders and friends of Grindon Community Work Project, Sunderland met for their annual away-day in Sandhills Community School in Grindon.
The theme was "Celebrating Grindon" and was worked out in the form of a giant jigsaw. The spirit on the day, and the positive words and images on the jigsaw pieces testify to the change which flows through the church and community in 2005.
Improvements to the church buildings are only one part of a longterm plan which is enlivening this small and faithful United Reformed membership. Holiday play schemes, and art and craft clases, are only a sample of vibrant life.
The project is staffed by Helen Stephenson, Church Related Community Worker. Helen works with a Committee of management and is supported by all the congregations in the Sunderland & Boldon Partnership of Churches.
The jigsaw is now on display in Grindon United Reformed Church, Galway Road, Grindon, Sunderland.
