BERTHA - Brilliant Energetic Riotous Teens Having Ablast!
Was born at Stanley Manse Where eight young teenagers from the North West Durham Group (Bethel, Chester-le-Street; St Andrew's, Blackhill; and Christ Church, Stanley) met for a day of unpacking what it means to be a young Christian in today's secular world.
What is the image of young people today?
A cross of woes and one of celebration were constructed, to highlight the images of young people by media.
Bertha, the epitome of all that is naff in churches today, has formed the basis of this new youth group. Bertha has been given a make-over with the creation of alter ego Bam who is a cool young friend. A church-goer with a skate board who is cool!!
The group will meet to unpack more with Bertha and Bam once a month: watch this space!
